Globe

Concept

The Globe is an artwork made for the new NGG school in Hørsholm where it’s hanging down from the grand skylight windows in the entrance atrium of the building. NGG is an international school and they wanted an artwork that reflected this, so we gave them the whole world.

The spheric grit of The Globe allows one to see through and inside it, with the back of every continent painted in blue and a great lamp with changeable light installed right in the center or core if you like.

It’s entirely made of plywood with every bespoke piece cut on our CNC and then assembled by hand. First came the spheric frame and then layer by layer the continent pieces glued in one piece at a time.
